Trump Backer Busted For Battering Wife
Cops: Man, 78, threw his spouse, 73, to ground
AUGUST 3--During an argument about the presidential race, a 78-year-old Donald Trump supporter threw his wife, a 73-year-old Hillary Clinton backer, to the floor of the couple’s Florida home, according to cops who arrested the older septuagenarian on a felony charge.
The confrontation between Lawrence Littman, a registered Republican, and his wife Elvia, a registered Democrat, occurred Wednesday evening in their Bradenton home.
Responding to a 911 call placed by Elvia, sheriff’s deputies were told by the woman that during an argument with her husband about politics, he “called her many derogatory names then grabbed her wrist and threw her on a chair in the bedroom.”
Elvia told cops that she then went to a bedroom on the other side of the house to get away from her husband, to whom she has been married 20 years. But Lawrence, she said, “followed her, grabbed her by the arm again and slung her to the ground.” Elvia told investigators that she “hurt her butt/backside when she hit the ground.”
During police questioning, Lawrence said that the duo had been arguing about politics and that when his wife “tried to slap him in the face,” he “shoved her back and she slipped and fell to the ground.”
Pictured above, Littman was arrested for battery on a person over 65, a felony. Free on $500 bond, Littman has pleaded not guilty to the charge. As condition of Littman’s pretrial release, he has been ordered to have no contact with his wife.
In a brief interview, Elvia said that the couple had been arguing about the presidential campaign, adding that her husband backs Trump, while she is a Clinton supporter. (1 page)
