APRIL 11--Meet Hillmon Arnold.
The Florida man, 22, was arrested yesterday after he allegedly tried to sell crack cocaine to residents of a Jacksonville senior citizens home. Except the 'crack' Arnold was peddling to pensioners outside the Golden Retreat Center was actually small pieces of bread.
Following his apprehension, Arnold (who is pictured in the mug shot at left) told police that he had been selling 'crack' to the seniors for the past two months and charged customers $5 for the artificial rock. A Jacksonville Sheriff's Office report, a copy of which you'll find here, notes that Arnold told investigators that he 'responded to the center because the citizens received their checks on the 10th of each month.' Arnold explained that he needs help due to his own marijuana addiction.
While the report does not indicate what kind of bread was sold to the duped elderly, Arnold Brick Oven White would have been appropriate. Arnold, who is incorrectly described as a female on the sheriff's report, was charged with a felony drug count and a misdemeanor rap for resisting arrest. (2 pages)
