MARCH 29--Here is the original search warrant obtained by North Carolina cops investigating the alleged rape of an exotic dancer during a raucous party attended by members of Duke University's top-ranked lacrosse team.
The document, filed by Durham police in Superior Court, contains the alleged victim's account of the March 14 attack in a bathroom at an off-campus home shared by team members.
A police investigation of the dancer's claims is continuing, but has been met by a Blue Devil wall of silence from the athletes. The squad's captains yesterday issued a statement denying a sexual assault occurred, though they expressed regret for a "lapse in judgment" for arranging the party, which was apparently attended by dozens of players.
The search warrant affidavit lists property sought by investigators as well as what they subsequently removed from the North Buchanan Boulevard home. The seized material included a bath mat, a bath rug, computers, digital cameras, a "make up bag with ID," five fingernails, and a bottle of K-Y jelly. (6 pages)
