JUNE 3--In response to a Freedom of Information request, federal officials have released mug shots of several high-profile arrestees, including ex-baseball star Barry Bonds, actor Wesley Snipes, and former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich, whose corruption trial opens today in Chicago.
Other booking photos provided by the United States Marshals Service include shots of Michael Barrett, the imprisoned stalker of ESPN reporter Erin Andrews; David Kernell, who was recently convicted of hacking Sarah Palin's e-mail account; and reggae musician Buju Banton (real name: Mark Myrie), who is under indictment for cocaine trafficking.
Bonds is facing trial on perjury and obstruction of justice charges related to a government probe of his alleged use of performance-enhancing drugs. Snipes is currently free on bail while appealing his conviction for failing to file income tax returns. In April 2008, Snipes was sentenced to 36 months in prison after a jury found him guilty of three misdemeanors. (6 pages)
