PAYOFF: Celine Dion shells out $2M in "hush money."
APRIL 2--Back in December 1995, when Jim Carrey's divorce from wife Melissa was finalized, the actor agreed to pay $10,000 monthly in child support and cover a variety of other expenses for his ex and daughter Jane, then seven-years-old. But that was then, this is now: Melissa wants a Los Angeles Superior Court judge to order the multimillionaire actor to significantly increase those payouts so that young Jane--now 15 and living virtually full-time with Mom--can enjoy the "prestigious lifestyle" to which she has been accustomed to when in her Dad's company (about 10 percent of the year). Melissa Carrey's legal declaration, which you'll find below, not only offers a picture of her ex-husband's gargantuan wealth, but describes the full plate of a Hollywood teenager: massages; spa visits; and tennis, horseback riding, dance, music, computer, and vocal lessons. Melissa argued that the extra money is needed, in part, because she'd like to take Jane on "at least one skiing trip per year and get a private skiing instructor to work with her." Melissa added that Jane also "does not have her own personal trainer or her own Pilates equipment." An April 21 hearing is scheduled on the support request. (10 pages)
