"Pro"-fessional Tips

DECEMBER 1--As we first reported, federal investigators are probing the operator of a Washington, D.C. escort service that sent college-educated prostitutes to the homes and hotel rooms of well-heeled clients. In a new court filing, federal prosecutors offer an amusing glimpse into how madam Deborah Jeane Palfrey ran her escort business, which she started in 1993 and ran until about three months ago. When Internal Revenue Service agents raided Palfrey's California home, they recovered newsletters that Palfrey distributed to her stable of whores at Pamela Martin & Associates. In the documents, which are excerpted in an amended forfeiture motion you'll find below, Palfrey offers tips on dealing with possible undercover officers, what to do when it's that time of the month, and how to handle 'fuckhead clients' who attempt to videotape paid assignations. According to prosecutors, Palfrey (pictured above in a 1992 mug shot) recruited hookers via ads on the Internet, and through ads in Washington's City paper and the University of Maryland student newspaper. While she expected all hires to put out, Palfrey did once permit an employee to refuse sex with a john after 'the prostitute explained to Palfrey that the customer's penis appeared to be diseased.' In an October interview with TSG, Palfrey denied that her workers engaged in sex acts with customers. (7 pages)
