Cops: Pokémon Player Left Boy Home Alone
Iowa man, 30, facing child endangerment rap
AUGUST 8--An Iowa man is facing a child endangerment charge after allegedly leaving his six-year-old son home alone while he went to play Pokémon Go with his other son, police report.
Cops say that the boy woke up from a nap Saturday evening and “found his father had left the home.” In a bid to “find an adult,” the child left his Iowa City residence and was found by a neighbor who stayed with him until officers arrived.
According to an Iowa City Police Department report, about 90 minutes passed from the time the boy was left alone until his father, Michael Dunham, 30, “called 911 wondering where his son was.”
“Police learned later the father had taken the other son to play Pokémon Go,” investigators noted.
Since the boy was “too young to take care of or fend for himself,” Dunham was arrested for child endangerment, an aggravated misdemeanor carrying a maximum two-year prison term.
Seen above, Dunham was booked into the county jail early this morning and released after about five hours in custody. (1 page)
