NOVEMBER 17--This is the license agreement at the heart of the legal scrum now surrounding the raunchy Paris Hilton sex tape.
The August 2003 deal was struck between Marvad, an Internet porn shop, and Don Thrasher, an ex-buddy of Rick Salomon, Hilton's former boyfriend and the video's co-star.
According to the agreement, a copy of which you'll find here, Marvad paid Thrasher $50,000 and promised the Los Angeles man 30 percent of all revenue generated by the tape. For his part, Thrasher represented that he was peddling the tape with Salomon's permission and that Hilton consented to the "public exploitation of the video."
Salomon has denied authorizing the tape's sale and has alleged that Thrasher swiped the video.
Thrasher claims that he was doing Salomon's bidding and split the 50 grand advance with Hilton's former paramour. The tortured tale of the tape may someday be untangled in a courtroom--but don't count on it. (8 pages)
