Southern Man In DUI
Lynyrd Skynyrd's Gary Rossington busted after Georgia auto accident
OCTOBER 23--As far as drunk rock stars go, Lynyrd Skynyrd co-founder Gary Rossington earns points for cooperating with his arresting officer.
The guitarist, 56, was busted last month after getting into a traffic accident in Milton, Georgia, where he resides. When cops arrived at the scene, they determined that Rossington smelled of booze, was slurring his speech, and was so unsteady on his feet that he 'almost fell over several times,' according to a police report, a copy of which you'll find here.
When asked to perform some field sobriety tests, Rossington offered a blunt assessment of his condition: 'I know I am drunk. I do not want take the evaluations.' Subsequent Breathalyzer tests confirmed Rossington's contention, showing that his blood alcohol content was in excess of the state's .08 limit.
Rossington, pictured in the mug shot above, was charged with a pair of DUI counts and a traffic violation. (2 pages)
