Florida Man, 74, Arrested For Battering Wife, 47, During Argument Over "Obama And Romney"
A 74-year-old Florida man was arrested yesterday after an argument with his wife over the presidential election turned violent, police charge.
Peter Schwartz is facing a domestic violence charge for allegedly striking his 47-year-old spouse in the face and shoving her to the ground. Pictured in the adjacent mug shot, Schwartz is locked up in the Broward County jail in lieu of $1000 bond.
The woman told cops that she had been arguing about “politics” with Schwartz, who was “yelling at her about ‘Obama and Romney,’” according to a Hollywood Police Department report.
During questioning, Schwartz told an officer that he slapped his wife across the face after she grabbed his shirt. He also admitted pushing the woman in the chest, “causing her to fall to the grass.” The cop reported observing “redness and swelling to the left side of the victim’s face.”
Both Schwartz and his wife are registered voters, though neither has stated a party affiliation on their respective registration records.
