Oregon Police Collar Pervy Coat Thief
Creep used purloined garments for sexual purposes
NOVEMBER 17--An Oregon man accused of stealing women’s coats from a college library was using the purloined garments for “sexual gratification,” according to police.
Mark Mahoney, 51, is facing multiple criminal charges in connection with the theft of coats from buildings at Central Oregon Community College and Oregon State University-Cascades. The coat thefts began two years ago, police say.
After campus cops identified Mahoney as a suspect, Bend Police Department officers confronted him last week at his residence. Mahoney reportedly admitted to “stealing several high end winter coats since 2015.” Police recovered several of the garments from Mahoney’s home and car.
Mahoney, cops say, admitted to pilfering the coats for “sexual gratification” purposes. Investigators did not address whether the garments were in need of dry cleaning or spot removal.
Mahoney, seen in the above mug shot, was booked into the Deschutes County Jail on three theft charges and two criminal mischief counts. He has subsequently been released on bond. (1 page)
