Suspect Collared For Ramen Noodle Robbery
Victim was accosted outside South Dakota store
JULY 21--A South Dakota man brandishing a chain yesterday robbed another man of a cup of ramen noodles outside a convenience store, police charge.
Cops were dispatched around 2:30 AM to the Rapid City store, where victim Gabriel Janis told them he had purchased--and heated up--the noodles.
The man said that he left the store and was eating the noodles when he was accosted.
Janis told officers that the robber approached him from behind and threatened to strike him with a chain if he did not turn over the cup of noodles. Janis said that he complied with the robber’s ramen demand and then returned to the store to call 911.
Armed with a description of the suspect, cops quickly located Lariat Sonny Comes, 27, about a block from the Corner Pantry convenience store. Comes, pictured above, was eating the noodles when apprehended by officers. He was also in possession of a chain.
Comes was arrested for second-degree robbery and booked into the Pennington County jail, where he remains locked up in lieu of $2500 bond on the felony count.
