Sid Vicious's Biggest Hit

Here at The Smoking Gun, we don't celebrate too many anniversaries. But in the case of Sid Vicious and Nancy Spungen, we're making an exception. Twenty years ago--on October 12, 1978--Sid (real name: John Simon Ritchie) stabbed Nancy to death in a room at New York's Chelsea Hotel. Sid, bassist for the Sex Pistols, checked himself out a few months later via a heroin overdose (but not before getting arrested again--while on bail--for a bar brawl).
