OH, GEEZ: Martha cited cocoa, baked bread, poor Peruvians in leniency bid
JULY 16--This is the letter Martha Stewart wrote to the federal judge who sentenced her today to five months in jail and five months under house arrest.
Stating that she was "abysmally confused and ill prepared for...the next step in this process," Stewart told Judge Miriam Cedarbaum that, while she planned to appeal the jury verdict, "I am dreadfully sorry that the perception of my conduct has caused my family, my friends and especially my beloved company so much damage."
Stewart closed by informing Cedarbaum that, "my hopes that my life will not be completely destroyed lie entirely in your hands." (4 pages)
