Unhappy Meal

OCTOBER 4--After asking a McDonald's patron to buy him a Happy Meal and some other grub, a North Dakota man pulled out a gun when his request was rejected and met with the suggestion to “go get a job,” cops say.

Responding Saturday to a “terrorizing report,” police busted George Demarrias, 33, outside the Bismarck restaurant. Officers located a 9mm handgun “which Demarrias had concealed in the stroller that his one-year-old daughter was seated in.”

According to a probable cause affidavit, Trent Guthmiller, 43, was on a break from work and walking into McDonald’s to get lunch when Demarrias “asked him to buy him a Big Mac and a Happy Meal.”

Guthmiller responded by telling Demarrias “to go get a job.” Guthmiller proceeded inside the restaurant, where he stood in line “surrounded by innocent bystanders some of which were children.”

Pictured above, Demarrias allegedly followed Guthmiller into the McDonald's and pulled out a gun. Demarrias then pointed the weapon at Guthmiller and said the victim had been “disrespectful,” the affidavit states. “Demarrias proceeds to call Guthmiller a son of a bitch and tells him to fuck off before stowing the firearm back in his waist band and leaving the restaurant.”

A police review of security footage corroborated Guthmiller’s account of the confrontation, which, cops say, left him “in fear for his safety as well as the safety of the surrounding bystanders.”

Demarrias was arrested on a felony charge of terrorizing with a dangerous weapon. He is locked up in the Burleigh County jail on $10,000 cash bond and has been ordered by a judge to have no contact with Guthmiller.

Demarrias’s female companion, Elouise Flyingby, 27, was also collared outside the McDonald’s. Charged with giving cops a false name, Flyingby pleaded guilty Monday to the misdemeanor count and was sentenced to 10 days in jail. (2 pages)
