Dirty Sock & Streisand's Stocks

It's twofer time (again):

1) While TSG's been a bit slow on the draw when it comes to this Pets.com lawsuit against Robert Smigel, creator of late night hellion Triumph The Insult Comic Dog, the federal complaint--first reported on Aaron Barnhart's informative TV Barn--remains a hoot. We're praying that Triumph--next to Pimp bot 5000 the funniest thing on Late Night with Conan O'Brien--succeeds in pooping on this claim for damages. (9 pages)

2) While Michael Douglas was struggling on Wall Street, day trader/performer Barbra Streisand was scoring for her eponymous charitable foundation. Her savvy stock picking earned a sweet $237,937, according to the group's most recent tax return (filed with the IRS in November 1999). As this return excerpt shows, Streisand made a killing with bank stocks like MBNA and Citigroup, though she didn't fare as well with drilling and mining firms, eBay (-$24,938), or Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation (-$6,255). But Babs was smart enough to avoid Pets.com, which has seen its stock price plummet to a paltry $2.25. Now there's areal dog. (5 pages)
