Free The Key West Juan!
Stuffed animal wrongly accused on Florida sheriff's web site
OCTOBER 17--Someone at Florida's Monroe County Sheriff's Office was having some fun last Friday while compiling the daily online arrest registry.
Along with mug shots and pedigree information on Florida Keys residents nabbed for such things as probation violations and cocaine sales, one "Juan Llama" appeared in connection with his misdemeanor arrest for "loitering-or prowling" at Key West High School. The occupation of the 19-year-old Llama, who looks younger in his booking photo, was listed as "stuffed llama."
The Llama entry, a screen grab of which you'll find here, has since been removed and a spokesperson told TSG that an employee was improperly "messing around" on the sheriff's site.
This is not the first time the Monroe sheriff has disseminated bogus online arrest information. In 2002, TSG noted that the site included details of a drug arrest of rapper Eminem (who supposedly was popped with a large stash of pot and 250 crack cocaine rocks). (1 page)
