Girlfriend Waterboarded

MARCH 1--A Wisconsin man waterboarded his girlfriend in an attempt to determine whether she was cheating on him, according to a criminal complaint charging him with suffocation, battery, and stalking.

Prosecutors allege that Dylan VanCamp, 22, attacked the victim during a confrontation last year in the woman’s apartment.

The victim told police that VanCamp became upset when “she was on a computer social media speaking with a boy she had known for quite some time.” VanCamp subsequently “punched her about the face,” according to court records.

Later that day, the victim recalled, she was showering when VanCamp dragged her out of the bathroom and pushed her onto the bed, where the waterboarding occurred.

The woman, whose name is redacted from court filings, said that VanCamp “placed a washcloth over her mouth and nose and started to pour water over her face.” The victim, cops reported, “stated that this she knew as ‘water boarding’ and it being some sort of torture.”

VanCamp, the victim recalled, “dumped about three cups of water, trying to get her to admit that she was cheating with the guy she had been on the computer with.” The woman added that she “could not breathe and it felt like she was drowning” during the attack.

At the time of the waterboarding incident, VanCamp had been dating the victim for about a month, police say.

Pictured above, VanCamp has been charged with six felonies and three misdemeanors in connection with alleged abusive acts directed at the victim. His rap sheet includes convictions for bail jumping, possession of drug paraphernalia, disorderly conduct, battery, and strangulation and suffocation.

VanCamp, who is being held in the Lincoln County jail, has a profile on the Plenty of Fish dating web site that reports he is “looking for a relationship.” Included among his photos is the below shot of him posing with a rifle. (2 pages)
