Trio Busted In $3M Betting Scheme

This is the federal criminal complaint filed today (11/12) against the three former fraternity brothers allegedly behind the scheme to manipulate a $3 million bet during last month's Breeders' Cup horse races. Glen DaSilva, Derrick Davis, and Chris Harn were charged with conspiracy in connection with a plot that allegedly involved tampering with computerized betting records--while the Breeders' Cup races were being run--to guarantee a "Pick Six" bonanza for Davis. The trio of 29-year-old former Drexel University students got nabbed, in large part, because Davis held the only winning Pick Six tickets, worth a whopping $3,067,821.60. In addition, Davis's suspicious betting pattern, as described in the complaint, also set off alarms with industry regulators and law enforcement officials. (7 pages)
