After Joseph Stalin dropped dead in March 1953 (reportedly from a brain hemorrhage), U.S. National Security Council officials surmised that the Russian leader probably was whacked by his conniving Commie colleagues. According to this recently declassified Cold War-era memo, NSC officers suspected that certain "ruthless secret policemen" may have been behind Stalin's hasty departure. (5 pages)
