Cops: Cowboy Assaulted Mom During Argument
Dez Bryant, 23, was busted for roughing up his kin, 37
JULY 17--Dallas Cowboys star Dez Bryant assaulted his mother at the woman's Texas home Saturday, police charge.
According to a DeSoto Police Department report, the 23-year-old athlete got into an argument with his mother Angela, 37, Saturday afternoon. Bryant, investigators reported, became upset when his mother said that he needed to leave her home.
Bryant, cops allege, then grabbed his mother "by her T-shirt, causing it and her bra to tear." The NFL wide receiver then “grabbed her by the hair and hit her across the face with his ball cap.”
In a written statement, Angela Bryant said that her son “repeatedly struck” her in the hands and wrist as she “tried to pull his hands away from her.” She also said that her "chest was sore from Defendant pushing her in the chest."
Bryant’s mother complained of pain in her wrists, hands, and arms as a result of the confrontation with her son. DeSoto cops reported noticing swelling in her wrists and left thumb, and "bruising on the right and left upper arm of the Complainant."
Charged with misdemeanor assault causing bodily injury, Bryant is pictured in the above mug shot. Bryant, a first-round draft pick in 2010, is in the third year of a five-year, $11.8 million contract. (2 pages)
