Cops: Cuddle Rebuff Prompted Domestic Battery
Man said he declined clinch "because it was hot"
MAY 18--A Florida Woman battered her boyfriend and trashed the couple's home after her beau declined to cuddle because it was too hot, according to court records.
Police responding Wednesday morning to a domestic battery call at a Clearwater residence encountered Jared Thompson, 24, who had a laceration on the left side of his face. A deputy noted that “belongings and furniture" were "tossed in the living room.”
Thompson told cops that Kristy Misty Mudd, his 31-year-old girlfriend, “attacked him and destroyed the residence,” an arrest affidavit states. Mudd, Thompson added, was upset with him “because he refused to cuddle, because it was hot.”
It was around 88 degrees in Clearwater when the cuddle rebuff occurred.
Thompson said Mudd (seen above) shoved and scratched him while he was standing in the doorway to the couple’s bedroom.
Mudd, who “had the distinct odor of an alcoholic beverage on her breath,” denied injuring Thompson and claimed that she had been attacked.
Mudd, who had no visible injuries, was judged to be the “primary aggressor” during the confrontation and, as such, was arrested for domestic battery. After being booked into the county jail on the misdemeanor charge, Mudd was released on her own recognizance and ordered to have no contact with Thompson.
Mudd’s rap sheet includes prior convictions for battery, theft, and violating probation. (1 page)
