AUGUST 26--In what will come as little surprise, the husband of the Florida teacher arrested in June for having sex with a 14-year-old student has filed for divorce.
Saying that his marriage to wife Debra, 23, is "irretrievably broken," Kristian Lafave filed this divorce petition today in Hillsborough County Circuit Court. He is also seeking a restraining order against his estranged wife in a bid to protect various assets and to keep her from opening his mail.
Debra Lafave is facing a variety of felony charges for allegedly having sex with a male student from the middle school where she taught reading. She told the boy that she was "turned on by the fact that having sexual relations with him was not allowed." (5 pages)
