The mother of Carolyn Bessette Kennedy and Lauren Bessette has initiated court proceedings to settle the estates of her daughters, both of whom were killed with John F. Kennedy, Jr. when his small plane crashed into the waters off Martha's Vineyard in mid-July.
Ann M. Freeman today (August 26) filed papers in New York City's Surrogate's Court seeking letters of administration for the two estates, both of which Freeman valued at less than $500,000, according to these court records.
Along with copies of death certificates for both of her daughters, Freeman's two petitions also seek to retain the rights for "Personal injury and wrongful death claims against persons and parties as yet unknown arising from airplane crash on July 16, 1999." (8 pages)
